Planning your trip can be all part of the fun and here are some ideas. Either of the wide beam boats or the narrowboat can be used for day trips as well as for weekends or longer. The wide beam boats come with a skipper and crew whereas the narrowboat can be self-steer or skippered. Your trip will be on a self-catering basis and you are free to make use of the excellent galley facilities on board to prepare food. There are options for pub food north or south, and we can even arrange to have fish and chips delivered to the boat for you.
We recommend a journey southwards for day trips, though it is possible to go north.
Cruising slowly through the countryside, you may enjoy the plants and wildlife that you will see along the way, as well as the quaint hump backed bridges and the essential locks that we will work our way through.
Southbound
Starting at our base at Nash Mills, you travel on a scenic route through Kings Langley and into Hunton Bridge then past Lady Capel, continuing to Cassiobury Park on a long trip.
Northbound
This trip takes you past Hemel Hempstead and Boxmoor, possibly getting to Winkwell on a long trip, but with fewer options for varying the times.
The duration of the trip can be fixed to suit the requirements of your group, with the start and finish times being arranged by your organiser (and our skipper beforehand if using the wide beam boats). Although the minimum trip length is usually three hours, other turning points along the route allow longer trips.
