   change of name

The Diocese of St Albans Community Project was the brainchild of the then Bishop of St Albans, Robert Runcie, to provide resources to support youth work in the Diocese of St Albans. Some years later, in 1981, it was registered as a charity with its own trustees. Since then it has operated as an independent charity. Initially this was with the Diocesan Youth Officer as the senior officer, so maintaining close ties with the diocese. In 2007 the name was formally changed to ReachOut Projects, which had been the trading' name for some years. In 2008 the charity took the important step of appointing its own Executive Director (currently Ron Overton) as part of its development. In 2010 that name was changed to ReachOut Plus to express the development of the charity and its desire to provide added value and enhancement of life and experience to service users.

Throughout its history ROP has managed a range of services and support and has wide experience of running youth focused activity, demonstrating its ability to initiate, develop and cease activities as the needs relating to youth and disability change.

ROP does believe that it has been, and continues to be an expression of God's love into the community and sees the Diocese (and other denominations in its area) as significant stakeholders and partners.

The Charity is committed to meaningful partnership with a wide range of agencies and organisations, working with over 200 organisations each year. It provides services to people of all faiths and none.
