Welcome to the ReachOut Plus International Challenges section! If you would like to raise funds for ROP whilst embarking on an incredible, life-changing and unforgettable adventure, then this is the section for you! Take the trip of a lifetime, meet people from all walks of life and help raise much needed and substantial funds for ReachOut Plus.

What Can I Do?


Cycle london to paris

Date: 3rd - 6th September 2010 or 9th - 12th September 2010

Location: England and France - starting point in central London

Cost: Registration fee £250

Sponsorship Target: £1200

This long weekend challenge links two great European cities, London and Paris, covering around 300km in just 3 days.

Encounter historic towns, sleepy villages and rolling countryside en-route. Cycle along wide Parisian boulevards to the finishing line at the city’s most famous landmark, the Eiffel Tower!

You will have a free day and night to explore the sights of Paris before boarding the Eurostar train back to London.

DAY 1: Cycle from London Borough of Bexley, through Kent and along edge of North Downs to Dover.  Ferry to Calais then coach transfer to Dieppe. 116km
DAY 2: Quiet tree lined roads and sleepy Normandy villages to Gournay en Bray.  Some challenging hills to conquer en-route! 80km
DAY 3: Ride from Gournay en Bray to outskirts of Paris. Reach city centre via the famous Bois de Boulogne park.  Finish under Eiffel Tower. 114km.
DAY 4: Explore Paris before returning to London on board Eurostar.

Location: England, Belguim, Holland, France & Germany

Level: Very Challenging
Cost: Registration fee £200

Sponsorship Target: £1300

This long weekend 5 country challenge is not for the faint hearted, it is a very challenging weekend event. You will cover approximately 483km (237 miles) cycling on road over three days.

Setting off from Canterbury, our aim is to pass through 5 countries in just 3 days: UK, France, Belgium, Holland and finish in Germany.

DAY 1: Set off from from Canterbury through Kent to the White Cliffs of Dover.  Ferry to Dunkerque. Cycle few kilometres in France to Belgian border. Ride through Flanders to finish in Ieper (Ypres) 90km
DAY 2: Long ride to Waterloo, just south of Belgium’s capital city. 125km.
DAY 3: After a morning in Belgium, we cross the three-border point ("Dreiländereck"), where Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands meet. Finish in Aachen. 168km.
DAY 4: Explore Aachen before returning to London on board Eurostar from Brussels.


Cycle death valley

Date: 5 - 12 November 2011
Level: Very Challenging
Location: Death Valley Arizona & Vegas

Cost: Registration Fee = £250

Sponsorship: £2700

Flying direct from London to Las Vegas, the challenge starts at Beatty Junction, about 100 miles from the centre of the city. Over the next 5 days, the group will cycle through California and Nevada, encountering altitudes ranging from sea level to 5500 ft, and through the dramatic rocks and shimmering dunes of America's largest national park, before cycling into the lights of Las Vegas.

DAY 1: Fly London to Las Vegas. Transfer to Beatty Junction.
DAY 2: Bike fitting then warm up ride to Stovepipe Wells crossing from Nevada into California en-route. 34 miles
DAY 3: Climb to Emigrant Junction, onto Wildrose Canyon then over the Panamint Valley to Panamint Springs. 56 miles
DAY 4: Spectacular ride to Town Pass then 15 miles downhill towards bottom of Death Valley. Overnight at Furnace Creek oasis. 56 miles     
DAY 5: Long day with panoramic views of the multi-coloured  landscape.  Cycle  past Devil’s Hole, a Death Valley National Monument.  Cross border into Nevada.  Overnight Pahrump. 61 miles   
DAY 6: Climb to Mountain Springs Summit (5490ft), the highest point of the trip.  Then long descent via dramatic Red Rock Canyon and across the plains to Las Vegas. 57 miles  
DAY 7: Morning free to explore Las Vegas.  Afternoon transfer to the airport for return flight to London.    
DAY 8: Arrive London.

Trek the inca trail

Location: Lima, Cusco, Machu Picchu

Level: Very Challenging

Cost: £299

The Inca Trail is rated amongst the ten best trekking routes on Earth. 

This challenge boasts striking beauty, ancient Inca ruins and diverse ecological zones.  The trail includes very different terrain from high desert plateau to tropical Andean rainforest. Our ultimate destination is Machu Picchu – the “Lost City” of the Incas – one of the world’s most fascinating and important archaeological finds. Other highlights include: 

The historical town of Cusco, the Sacred Valley, the Inca site and market town of Pisac, the hot springs at Aguas Calientes and city of Lima.

DAY 1: Fly London – Lima.
DAY 2: Fly Lima – Cusco.  Acclimatise in Cusco.
DAY 3: More acclimatisation and half day walking tour of Cusco
DAY 4: Optional tour of area around Cusco and Warm up hike over part of Inca Trail.
DAY 5: Start trekking along Inca Trail. 4-5 hrs
DAY 6: Climb Dead Woman’s Pass (4200m). 7-8 hrs
DAY 7: Climb Runkuracay Pass (4000m). 8-10 hrs
DAY 8: Trek to view Machu Picchu at sunrise - 3 hrs Time to explore. Train and bus back to Cusco.
DAY 9: Fly Cusco – Lima – London.
DAY 10: Arrive London.

Please Note: This trek is at altitude - highest point 4200m.

Trek the Great wall of China

Date: 8-16th October 2011
Level: Fairly Challenging
Cost: Registration fee £250

Sponsorship Target: £2600

Explore different sections of the Great Wall of China in the hills around Beijing. Head deep into the countryside away from the places where tourists normally visit this majestic structure.  Marvel at the panoramic vistas from watch towers en-route.  Witness unrestored sections of the wall which date back to the Ming Dynasty.  Discover a country immersed in history, mythology and ancient traditions.  Afterwards visit the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square during free time in Beijing.

DAY 1: Fly London – Beijing.
DAY 2: Arrive & acclimatise in Beijing.
DAY 3: Trek the Great Wall at Mutianyu. 4 hrs
DAY 4: Trek in Black Dragon Paw Park. 6-7 hrs
DAY 5: Trek the Great Wall at Gubeikou. 5-6 hrs
DAY 6: Trek the Great Wall at Jinshanling. 6-7 hrs
DAY 7: Trek the Great Wall at Simatai. 4 hrs
DAY 8: Free time to explore Beijing.
DAY 9: Fly Beijing - London.
